Spectacular Finish Marks the Culmination of Don Bosco Basketball Tournament in Irinjalakuda

Irinjalakuda, September 11, 2023 — The All Kerala Don Bosco Inter School and Inter Club Basketball Tournament concluded with an electrifying final session held at the Don Bosco Indoor Stadium from September 8 to 11. The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Shri. U. Sharafali, President of the Kerala State Sports Council, who inaugurated the event.
The closing ceremony, presided over by School Manager Rev. Fr. Emmanuel, was a prestigious gathering attended by prominent figures in the sports and education domain. Central School Principal Fr. Manu Peedikayil extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and spectators. Expressing gratitude, Mr. Biju Jose, the Physical Education Trainer of Central School, proposed the vote of thanks.
In a thrilling showdown in the boys’ category, Girideepam Bathani HSS secured victory in the Don Bosco Silver Jubilee Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy by defeating Kottayam LFCGHSS Koratty with a score of 79-62. LFGHSS Korati emerged as the runner-up, also earning recognition with the Bijoy Johnny Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy. In the girls’ category, it was Sacred Heart HSS Thevara that claimed the Don Bosco Ever Rolling Trophy by defeating Providence GHSS with a score of 60-48.
In an intense battle between professional teams, Kerala Police Thiruvananthapuram clinched the Fr. Thomas Purayidam Memorial Trophy by narrowly defeating KSEB Thiruvananthapuram with a score of 80-79. Mr. Anthony Johnson of Kerala Police showcased exceptional skills throughout the tournament, earning him the title of the tournament’s best player.
The event witnessed a distinguished gathering, with Administrator Fr. Joyson Mulavarikal, and spiritual animator of the school Fr. Josin Thazhethettu in attendance, alongside Sr. Omana V.P., Headmistress of DBLPS, Mr. Regi.P.J., Mr. K. Sambasivan, President of the District Sports Council, Diamond Jubilee Organizing Secretary Mrs. Laiza Sebastian, Sports Committee Convener Mr. Joseph Chacko, and Diamond Jubilee General Convener Mr. Paul Jose Thaliath.
Also present were School Alumni Association President Mr. Siby Paul Akkarakaran, Higher Secondary School PTA President Mr. Telson Kotoly, L.P. School PTA President Mr. Sebi Maliekal, ICSE School PTA President Mr. Sivaprasad Sridharan, and Tournament Convener Mr. Sandesh Hari, adding prestige to the grand occasion.
